I am very excited about the June Embroidery Club project and designs. Both the embroidery and the the sewing were so much fun to create. As you can see the embroidery is inspired by the fabric. I used two prints from the Nature-ology", collection by Studio-e, plus a solid and a dot from my stash. There are many bird prints available, if you would like to stay with the theme. Also if you are interested in the Studio-e fabrics that I used, here is a link to their website:
The back of the tote is one single piece of fabric that is channel quilted. In retrospect I wish I had embroidered a single bird motif amongst the foliage on the back of the tote. I think that would have looked very pretty with the birds in the actual print of the fabric.
The front of the tote features a simple quilt-as you-go technique, channel quilting and a stunning embroidered strip with a bird motif.
I am calling it a laptop tote, but you can easily use it as a soft sided briefcase. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did.
