I made this fun and funky gathered fleece scarf about a month ago, trying to use up some leftover bits of polar fleece. I fell in love with it instantly – it’s so cuddly and warm. My sister and niece saw it and they want one too. And, well that’s two stocking stuffers added to the list.
I love it when one of my projects is a big hit with my family, then I know others will like it as well.
The best part about this scarf is that it is so easy to make – even for real beginner sewers.
Because you are using two layers, you’ll need a lightweight fleece.
Cut two 5” x 60” strips of fleece. Pin with right sides facing. Stitch together, leaving a 3/4” opening at the center of one end and a 3” opening at the other end.
Turn to the right side and topstitch 3/8” on either side of center.
Insert a 35” length of 1/4” wide elastic. Topstitch the ends 1/8” from the edge.
And voila you have a ruffled fleece scarf. Hope you enjoy!
